As Wesley United Methodist Church moves through the season of Eastertide toward Pentecost, May arrives as a month of celebration, gratitude, and reflection on the Spirit's enduring work in and through the church. Pastor Martha's message centers on a meaningful milestone: the 70th anniversary of women receiving full ordination rights in The United Methodist Church. Anchored by the theme "The Spirit Falls Equally," the congregation is invited to pause and ponder the question at the heart of this anniversary: where and how is God calling each of us into ministry in the world?
The month brims with community and care. Wesley celebrates its graduating seniors and warmly welcomes new members. College students are sent into finals week with snack packs and the prayers of their church family, while the congregation is also encouraged to extend a warm welcome to incoming pastor Rev. Michael Burge as preparations continue for Pastor Martha's retirement celebration on June 28.
Wesley's commitment to fellowship and outreach remains vibrant, with a Concerts in the Loft performance by guitarist Gary Antol, a fellowship trip to the WVU Planetarium, and ongoing ministry through CarePortal and global mission partnerships. As several programs pause for summer, the congregation is reminded that the work of the Spirit never does.
As Pentecost draws near, Wesley UMC embraces this season as a call to action — to pray, prepare, and get to work for God.
